In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. Confirm your password and your account, tasting history, wishlist, and taste profile are permanently deleted immediately.
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and use the recovery code you were given when you created your account. Your recovery code is stored only as a one-way hash, so it genuinely cannot be looked up or reset by anyone, including us. If you've lost both your password and your recovery code, that account can't be restored.
Yes. When you photograph a wine list or a bottle, the photo is sent to Palate's servers and read by a third-party AI provider, which is what makes the reading accurate enough to trust. Palate does not save the photo to your account. The wine names read from it are then checked against a wine database to identify each bottle. Scanning needs a connection; logging wines and viewing recommendations do not.
Logging wines, your taste profile, the wine journal and Home sommelier are free and unlimited. Photo scanning is what costs: every account gets 10 scans, as a one-off rather than monthly, and unlimited scanning is $5 a month. A scan that fails to read anything is given back to you rather than counted. One scan covers up to three photos, so a wine list that runs over a page still costs one.
In the app, go to Profile → Plan → Manage, which opens Stripe's billing page where you can cancel. Your unlimited scanning continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing is charged after that. Palate never sees or stores your card details: they are entered on Stripe's own checkout page.
Email a quick description (and a screenshot if you have one) to matt10erickson@gmail.com and we'll take a look.
